Staying safe
ExpressListen is a listening space, not professional care or an emergency service.
In danger or crisis? Please call now.
If you are outside India, contact your local emergency number.
Protect yourself
- Never share your real name, address, phone number, workplace or social media profiles.
- Never send money, and never agree to meet someone from ExpressListen.
- You can stop replying or leave any conversation at any time. You don't owe anyone an explanation.
If someone makes you uncomfortable
- Block them. They are not told. They can no longer message you, and if they are a listener they disappear from your list.
- Report them. Choose a reason and write what happened. A real person on our team reviews every report. We may send the reported person a notice with the reason and your words, but never your name or nickname.
- For serious cases, our team can remove someone's listener role or suspend their account. Nothing happens automatically.
- ExpressListen is only for adults. If you think you are talking to someone under 18, please report it.
Listener guidelines
Every listener agrees to these before they can listen:
- Listen; do not give medical, legal or financial advice, and never present yourself as a professional.
- Do not ask for or share phone numbers, addresses or social profiles.
- No romantic, sexual or commercial conversation.
- If someone is in danger or at risk of self-harm, share the in-app safety resources (112, Tele-MANAS 14416).
- Keep what you hear private.
